"The meaning of life is to find your gift and the purpose of life is to give it away" - Pablo Picasso

We have all been endowed with so much potential in our life; yet, we do not always use our potential to our best advantage and perhaps some of us don't make use of it at all, on the grounds that we are still on our way to its discovery. Unlocking one's potential is no easy task, as there needs to be a sufficient amount of one's awareness regarding...well, their existence; their purpose in life and what truly counts as meaningful for them, that they are willing to go the extra mile to achieve it.

Let's break down into more comprehensive words what I mean by "a sufficient amount of awareness". I believe and I can also say from my own experience that, we are not always aware of the things that constitute our potential, which is, unarguably, nothing to massively panick about, as it inevitably leads to the excitement of discovering one's potential along the way. Now, it is true that some of us discover our potential at an early age, whereas others at a later stage; but, there should be no competition in this regard, right? The moment we compete in a space that's not ours, we eventually try to be someone else, thus live someone else's life, but not our own...what will happen in this case is that our identity will get lost on the way.

It does take time to know your true self, to know your mission in life, to know what you love and what you don't love, to know what gets you inspired and to chase it, to know what you are good at, and so forth. Everyone has a different trajectory when it comes to discovering their potential and mastering it, without a shred of doubt; and we all have our turn in this sense.

"The tragedy of life is not death, but what we let die inside of us while we're still alive"- Norman Cousins

So, now comes the question of how to become aware of our potential. Well, as mentioned earlier, it is a self-journey, a self-discovery, that this process implies; nonetheless, there are three elements that come into play in discovering our potential and sticking to it:

  1. Element

  2. Environment

  3. Energy

Element- when you are in your element, when something or someone brings you pure joy; your happy place where you feel that you are constantly flourishing and most successful; you find that element of yours and you stay close to it

Environment- crafting your environment in a way that feels right and favorable for you; we can be exposed to an environment and make choices based on our experiences and emotions that the respective environment gives off- by having the choice element, we choose to create a thriving space for us, that's empowering and uplifting

Energy- figure out your energy in which you best operate and function; the energy is prevalent and it is never misleading; notice it, acknowledge it and feel it deeply; you only know that something is real when you feel it profoundly

To be honest with you, I was hesitant in the beginning whether to name the title as such or Find your space to thrive in. I think that I chose wisely for not doing so in the end, as I believe that the very first step should be allowing ourselves to open up to new experiments as well as exposing ourselves to new experiences, that are meant to shape the creation of our happy place and potential. We don't always find something worthy just like that, as if someone put it in front of us and we neet to grab it asap; we need to create ways towards it, and we need to create ways that are in tune with our values and principles, to bring out the best version of ourselves and implicitly, to light up our potential along the way.

"Your role should be to open up every door possible; let the world close the doors you're not meant to walk through. And when you believe you have exhausted all options, remember that you haven't"- Jay Shetty

Whatever we end up doing , we need to ask ourselves whether we have unlocked our true potential based on where we stand in life and how we feel, and whether we are ready and willing to truly fight for our potential, to give meaning and purpose to our life. At the end of the day, we need to craft our lives first in a thriving manner, and then aim for the stars.

P.S.: Some food for thought

Listen to your mind. Experience it.

Find meaning in what you do. Create a commitment to your meaning.

You have the power to craft and design your life the way you want, not the way others want.

Find your reason for being and things will ultimately become much simpler.
